For patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) requiring hemodialysis, a reliable and well-functioning vascular access is essential for effective treatment. The most common types of dialysis access include an Arteriovenous (AV) Fistula, AV Graft, and Permcath.

An AV Fistula is created by surgically connecting an artery to a vein, making it the preferred and longest-lasting option for dialysis. When a patient's veins are not suitable for a fistula, an AV Graft may be used to establish dependable vascular access. A Permcath is a tunneled catheter placed in a large vein, typically used for temporary or urgent dialysis access.

Over time, dialysis access may become narrowed or blocked, reducing blood flow and affecting dialysis efficiency. Fistula Salvage Angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure performed to open narrowed vessels, restore blood flow, and prolong the life of the existing fistula or graft, helping patients avoid unnecessary replacement surgery.

Regular monitoring and timely intervention are essential to maintain healthy dialysis access and ensure uninterrupted dialysis treatment.
