Summary: | The Thrombosis Update 2024 (CME) session conducted on 17th March 2024 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital from 10am to 3.30pm provided a comprehensive overview of advancements and updates in the understanding, diagnosis, prevention, and management of thrombosis-related disorders. The session aimed to equip healthcare professionals (Medical Students, Physicians, Surgeons and GPs) with the latest evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes in this critical area of medicine.
The CME began with an introduction to the Vascular and Endovascular Society of India and Goa and the need for vascular surgery as a separate super speciality in this current era. We then followed it up with sessions on cancer thrombosis, acute limb, acute mesenteric, venous thromboembolism and rationale for anticoagulation.
Diagnostic modalities were a key focus, with discussions on characterizing thrombotic events in various vascular beds. Biomarkers and laboratory tests for assessing coagulation parameters and monitoring anticoagulant therapy were also covered in detail.
Preventive strategies took centre stage, emphasizing the significance of risk factor modification, pharmacological prophylaxis, and patient education on lifestyle modifications and adherence to prescribed medications. Novel anticoagulant agents and their respective indications, efficacy, and safety profiles were reviewed to guide clinicians in choosing the most appropriate therapy for their patients.
Management approaches for acute thrombotic events, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), mesenteric arterial thrombosis, pulmonary embolism (PE) and arterial thrombosis, were discussed, highlighting the evolving landscape of anticoagulation regimens, thrombolytic therapy, and endovascular procedures in the modern age and era.
The session was attended physically by around 80+ delegates and 150+ audience via you tube live streaming during the event. The event has been permanently saved in our VESSOMAG education you tube channel.
Overall, the Thrombosis Update 2024 CME provided a comprehensive and insightful update on thrombosis-related topics, equipping healthcare professionals with practical knowledge and tools to enhance their clinical practice and improve patient care. |
